Wixom St. Catherine of Siena overcame a slow start to down Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 46-34 on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Northwest.
St. Catherine was down 6-1 to start the game but rallied to take a 7-6 lead after one quarter. The lead was 16-14 at halftime and 30-26 after three quarters. St. Catherine used a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.
Nine players scored in a balanced attack for the Stars. Senior Lizzy Turek scored 12 points to lead St. Catherine. Freshman Rachel Luomala had eight points. Junior Darbi Klatt scored seven points. Junior Maeve Burke and junior Lauren Arena both scored six points. Junior Claire McClorey added three points.
St. Catherine (5-1) begins Catholic High School League AA Division play today, Jan. 8, hosting Allen Park Cabrini.
