Mustangs run past Pharaohs

Girls basketball: Detroit Mumford beats Detroit Communication & Media Arts 68-21 on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019

   Detroit Mumford improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the Detroit Public School League West Town Division with an impressive 68-21 girls basketball victory over Detroit Communication & Media Arts on Monday, Jan. 14, at Mumford.

   Mumford jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 36-8 at halftime. Most of the second half was played under a running clock.

   The Mustangs put on a show all game, with numerous steals and behind-the-back and threw-the-legs passes. Seven players scored in a balanced attack.

   Junior guard Sequoia Jackson led Mumford with 15 points. Senior guard Tiaira Earnest scored 14 points. Junior forward Ajanee Horton had 12 points. Senior center Shanea Dinwiddie added 10 points. Senior guard Adoreya Williams totaled nine points.

   Mumford travels to Detroit Central on Thursday, Jan. 17.
