   Birmingham Roeper girls basketball team rallied from a 13-2 first-quarter deficit to beat Michigan Independent Athletic Conference foe Brighton Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy 31-26 at CSPA’s elementary school in Howell.

   Roeper outscored Stockwell 11-2 in the second quarter to close the game to 15-13 at halftime. Roeper turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, outscoring Stockwell 8-4 in the third quarter and 10-7 in the

 

fourth quarter to secure the victory.

   Junior Jada Coburn led the Roughriders with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. Sophomore guard Flawless Gregory scored 10 points. Freshman Ava Thomas added eight points and sophomore Scarlett Shaya scored three points in the win.

   Roeper travels to Livonia Clarenceville on Friday, Jan. 24 for another MIAC game.
