Division 2 No. 1-ranked and defending Michigan High School Athletic Association champion Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence dominated Southfield Arts & Technology 74-36 on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Edison.

   Edison improved to 13-0 with the victory.

   Clemson-bound Gabrielle Elliott scored 21 points to lead Edison. Madisen Wardell scored 15 points, Dareonna Little scored 10 points, and Xavier-bound Shaulana Wagner scored eight in a game where starters played limited minutes. Ruby Whitehorn and Dakota Alston both added six points in the win.

   Edison is looking for its fourth-straight MHSAA championship this season. The Pioneers won the Division 2 championship last season and the Class C championship in 2017 and 2018 under head coach Monique Brown.

   The Pioneers have impressive wins this season over Division 1 No. 1 East Lansing (65-48), Division 1 No. 3 Bloomfield Hills Marian (54-32), Division 1 No. 8 Detroit Renaissance (54-52), as well as four out-of-state powers.

   Edison has a break before traveling to face Division 4 No. 1 Adrian Lenawee Christian on Feb. 17. Edison hosts Detroit Cass Tech on Feb. 18.
