Girls basketball: Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory beats Clawson 59-40 in MHSAA district opener on Monday, March 4, 2019

   Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory opened the Michigan High School Athletic Association District 61 girls basketball tournament with a convincing 59-40 victory over Clawson on Monday, March 4, at Notre Dame Prep.

   Notre Dame Prep led 35-19 at halftime.

   Senior Sarah Stuart led Notre Dame Prep with 15 points. Junior Malorie Wilson scored 10 points. Junior Kaitlyn Jansen had nine points and sophomore Elena Wozniak added eight points in the win.

   Notre Dame Prep (9-12) advances to face Wixom St. Catherine of Siena (15-5) in the semifinals on Wednesday, March 6. Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood (10-10) faces Detroit Country Day (10-8) in the other semifinal. Country Day beat Pontiac 63-35 in its opener.
