   Detroit Renaissance downed West Bloomfield 63-50 in the girls basketball season opener for both teams at Renaissance on Monday, Dec. 2.

   The Phoenix (1-0) lead 20-11 after one quarter and 32-25 at halftime. The Lakers (0-1) closed the gap to 46-40 at the end of the third quarter. But the Phoenix pulled away in the fourth to earn the victory.

 

 Kailee Davis led Renaissance with 21 points. Taylor Anderson scored 15 points and Shannon Wheeler added 11 points in the victory. Mikyah Finley and Nika Dorsey both scored six points.

   Renaissance plays Wayne Memorial on Dec. 13 and East Kentwood on Dec. 14 in the Best of Michigan Tournament at Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence.
