     Wixom St. Catherine of Siena earned their first win over the season, downing Catholic High School League AA Division rival Allen Park Cabrini 55-24 on Friday, Feb. 19, at St. Catherine.

   St. Catherine raced to a 13-0 lead after four minutes of play as senior Darbi Klatt, sophomore Hailey Baumann and senior Claire McClorey combined for four quick steals that led to baskets. The lead was 22-7 after one quarter as each of the Stars’ five starters scored.

   The Stars increased the lead to 37-16 at halftime.

 St. Catherine turned up the defensive pressure further in the third quarter, limiting Cabrini to only two points as the lead was 53-18 heading into the fourth.

   Sophomore Rachel Luomala led the Stars with 17 points. Senior Lauren Arena and Baumann both finished with six points.

   Klatt, McClorey, senior Sarah Johnston, sophomore Angelina Arena, junior Maegan Kajy, sophomore Emma Luomala, and junior Lauren Pelon also scored for the Stars.

   St. Catherine (1-3) hosts Grosse Ile on Saturday, Feb. 20.
